Babbitt Receives Promotion to O-6, Defense Superior Service Medal
Jim Babbitt, #206, has been selected for promotion to Colonel in the U.S. Army. Jim was also recently recognized with the presentation of the Defense Superior Service Medal (1st Oak Leaf Cluster) for exceptionally meritorious service rendered as a Special Advisor for International Affairs in the Office of the Vice President supporting former Vice President Al Gore. Jim continues to serve in the White House now supporting Vice President Cheney as a member of his National Security Affairs Staff.
As he did in the CAP cadet program, Jim has advanced from the junior enlisted ranks to pin on Colonel’s insignia. As a Sergeant, he was an instructor in the Ranger Training Department of the U.S. Army Infantry School. Commissioned as an infantry officer following graduation from OCS, he has served in light, mechanized, airborne, and ranger infantry units. He is a Master Parachutist and proudly wears the Ranger Tab and Combat Infantryman Badge on his uniform. 8 Feb 2001
