Anchors Aweigh for Johnston
Describing the experience as something that “sucked, yet was strangely enjoyable”, California Wing’s Kevin L. Johnston, #1413, graduated from the U.S. Navy’s Officer Candidate School in April and was commissioned a naval officer. The photo at right shows Ensign Johnston returning his first salutes as a commissioned officer from his OCS drill instructor and chief petty officer.
Kevin graduated from the University of California, Irvine, in December with a degree in Political Science. He returns to Naval Air Station Pensacola, Florida, later this month for 6 weeks of Aviation Preflight Indoctrination as he begins training to become a Naval Flight Officer. 9 May 2001
