Ellis Receives AF Command
In ceremonies last month at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, Air Force Lt Col Janon D. Ellis, Spaatz #661, assumed command of of the 728th Air Mobility Squadron (USAFE). Previously, he served as Operations Officer in the 730th Air Mobility Squadron at Yokota Air Base, Japan, where he also commanded Civil Air Patrol’s Yokota Cadet Squadron.
A native Floridian who grew up in Miami and was a member of the North Miami and Miami Springs Optimist Cadet Squadrons, Janon has remained active in CAP, serving in units in Texas and Arkansas in addition to his overseas service. The lieutenant colonel earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics and Public Affairs from the University of Miami and received his Air Force commission through Air Force ROTC. He later earned a Master of Arts in Human Resource Development from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. Lt Col Ellis is a Master Navigator with over 4,000 flight hours in the C-130 Hercules and is a graduate of the Air Command and Staff College. 10 Jul 2003
