Florida Spaatzen Among USAF’s 12 Outstanding Airmen

In July, Air Force officials announced the USAF’s 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year for 2003. Among them, Senior Airman Hector G. Bauza, USAF, Spaatz #1421, of CAP’s Florida Wing. Hector and the other 11 honorees were selected from a field of 46 nominees representing organizations from throughout the Air Force. An excerpt from his nomination illustrates Hector’s dedication to excellence:

“A superior performer, his invaluable resource management skills were credited with saving the Defense Department $113,000 through multiple initiatives. He overcame a 50 percent manning shortage to achieve a 96 percent work order completion rate.”

Hector is stationed at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan, where he is a Biomedical Engineering Journeyman assigned to the 18th Medical Group. In addition to his Air Force duties, Hector presently serves as Deputy Commander of the Kadena Cadet Squadron. 10 Jul 2003
