Silver Wings for Twin Spaatzen

This past summer, twin brothers and Spaatz Award recipients Ryan (at left) and Royce Lippert (Spaatz #’s 1339 and 1380, respectively) graduated from Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training (SUPT) and were awarded the silver wings marking them as United States Air Force pilots. Royce earned his Air Force commission through AFROTC at Purdue University and attended SUPT at Vance AFB, Oklahoma, graduating on July 25th, 2003. Following initial training at Altus AFB, Oklahoma, Royce will fly the C-17Globemaster III out of McChord AFB, Washington. Ryan received his commission upon graduation from the U.S. Air Force Academy and completed SUPT at Columbus AFB, Mississippi on Sept 5th, just 10 weeks after his brother. Ryan was selected to become a T-38 Talon instructor pilot and will return to the 50th Flying Training Squadron at Columbus following completion of Pilot Instructor Training at Randolph AFB, Texas. 8 Sep 2003
