Visit the Future — TODAY…
Yellow-Photon Lasers. Adaptive Optics. Deformable mirrors and artificial guidestars. It all sounds like science fiction — or is it?
No, it’s all just another workday at the Starfire Optical Range on Kirtland AFB. Starfire is part of the Air Force Research Laboratories quest to put laser beams on orbital targets; be it for communications, for remote sensing or as a futuristic weapon.
Maj. Gen Ted Bowlds, USAF is Commander of the Air Force Research Laboratories. He has arranged for a special presentation team from the Starfire lab to visit The Spaatz Association’s Annual Dinner and Awards event on 3 March 2007 in Arlington, VA. It is all part of this year’s theme: “The Air Force of the Future”.
Maj. Gen Bowlds is a former CAP Cadet, recipient of The General Carl A. Spaatz Award a Spaatz Association Director and is a tireless proponent of the CAP Cadet Program. The Starfire presentation team is led by Capt, Luke Davis, USAF, also a former CAP Cadet and Spaatz recipient. Visit us and visit the Future of the Air Force!
