Changing of the Guard
To Our Members, Benefactors and Friends,
I want to inform you of an important personal decision. A few weeks ago, I announced to the Board of Directors of the Spaatz Association, that I needed to step down from my role as your National President. After a decade of service in every elected capacity, this was an especially difficult decision for me.
The sole reason for this decision involves personal and professional matters that have conspired to pull me away. Concerned friends have asked, and I can assure you that, thankfully, none of these reasons are health related for Judy or myself. I also want to tell you that nothing or no one related to CAP, our Board, or to TSA weighed into the decision.
This action elevates Lt. Gen. Ted F. Bowlds, USAF (ret.) to the role of National President. Ted is an exceptional executive leader who will expertly lead TSA into the future. The Board of Directors and Officer team is, likewise, as talented and capable group of leaders I have seen during my tenure. Our Association is in the best of hands, and it is financially strong. We are poised for a long and successful future in supporting the CAP Cadet Program.
For the short-term, I plan to remain engaged in TSA to ensure continuity as I hand-off my responsibilities. Ted and his team will soon announce succession appointments and plans in accordance with our By-Laws. In the long-term, I hope that events will eventually allow me to work with you again.
It has been a rare and special privilege for me to work for you in our Association!
