Working with the National Secretary, the Editor of The Question Mark is responsible for researching, writing, and publishing the Association’s online and print newsletter.  The Question Mark serves as the primary conduit between The Association and its members.  It serves to (a) connect members together in a social network; (b) market our programs and initiatives to Civil Air Patrol members and units; and (c) support fundraising efforts.

Requirements

  • Professional writing and editing experience
  • High level of organization skill, ability to multi-task, and work with hard deadlines
  • Familiarity with the CAP Cadet Program
  • Ability to manage a project from start to completion
  • Attention to detail, especially in editing and proofing
  • Proficient computer skills – use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, email, and internet applications
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others
  • Enthusiasm and commitment

Responsibilities

  • Work with the National Secretary and Editor of Leading the Legacy to develop regular updates for The Association’s online newsletter and quarterly print newsletter
  • Coordinate and produce a quarterly, professional-quality print newsletter suitable for mailing to members
  • Plan, organize, edit, and write monthly content (at least four articles per month) for online publication (some content will be used with The Question Mark or  Leading the Legacy publications)
  • Gather and choose possible photos and images for newsletter
  • Coordinate with graphic designer on content, layout, colors, and photos for print newsletters
  • Work with volunteer writers in the field to produce articles for the online or print newsletter
  • Copy edit and proofread all articles as required
